TLDR
ChatGPT's Dots ($100/month) and GrokBot ($20/month) are model-locked personal assistants that prioritize ease of use over flexibility, while the open-source Hermes Agent offers full model choice and local execution at the cost of technical setup. For most users, GrokBot provides the best balance of price and simplicity, but Hermes is the only option for those who want to avoid vendor lock-in or run on their own hardware.
Key points
Dots costs $100 per month and is locked to OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra model.
GrokBot costs $20 per month and is locked to Grok's latest model.
Hermes Agent is free, model-agnostic, and can run on the user's own hardware.

Chad GPT's personal assistant dots has just dropped and I have been ruthlessly testing it. And in this video, I'm going to show you how this compares to Grobot, how it compares to Hermes Agent so you
can make a very clearly informed decision and know exactly which model you should be using. I'm going to show you the pricing. I'm going to show you the limitations and all the stuff that
nobody else is telling you 100% transparently. I'm going to show you the cost. We're going to do real actual jobs with these to stop the confusion and get you light years ahead of everybody else.
So, grab that coffee and let's actually begin. Now, I'm going to test this across a few different steps. We're going to start with how do you get them? We're going to cover what do you
actually need to know? What's a TLDDR? We're going to get to create things. We're going to get it to edit podcast for us. We're going to get it to use tools. We're going to see how good it is
at strategy stuff, cost limitations, lots of stuff that you're going to need to know. Now, let's kick off with where do I actually get dots? Now, if you don't know, all these three things here
are essentially AI personal assistants. And I don't know about you, but I'm getting kind of a bit crazy of sort of triangles and squares smiling at me everywhere I go. But how do we get our
hands on them? Well, literally, let's begin with Dots, Sean. So, Dots itself gets with it comes with the ChatGpt $100 subscription or business premium. All you need is ChatGpt Pro actually. Uh,
and it's very easy to get. You can use it in the browser or if you update the desktop, it will then appear. You just click on the top left and it's done. Grockpot itself, once again, you can
just pick a plan. You can now use that from only $20. You download Grockbot and then you're ready to go. And Hermes agent is a couple of additional steps. Essentially, with that, you can just run
it anywhere you want to. You can run it in WhatsApp, you can run it in uh Telegram, but essentially it's something that you run yourself on your computer or in the terminal. I'm going to show
you how they're all slightly different. Now before we jump to the use case, you must understand some key things about dots and grobot and how these work. Now dots itself is on OpenAI's cloud
computer. It's on OpenAI's cloud. You can open it anytime you want to. You can use it on your phone. In fact, when I was working on it earlier, I was getting messages. Um, keeps working and it
eventually only works on your computer if you allow it. Grockbot is one shared cloud computer with Gro. So again, runs 24/7 in the background. Whereas Hermes agent itself is a little bit different
because it runs on your machine or you need to run it on a VPS. DOTs is powered by GPT6 Astra. Grockbot is typically powered by the latest Grock model and Hermes agent. You can power it with
anything you want to. Now let's actually begin with its ability to go ahead and create something together. So first thing we do is head over to the chat GPT app and we're going to do the same thing
in all three different agents to see exactly how they compare and what that looks like. Now, when you open up the OpenA app, and bear in mind, I didn't get early access to this. I'm giving you
my full, frank, and brutally honest thoughts. If you like that kind of content, you know where to come. Now, you're going to see the left hand side, guys, you have a few things. You have
spaces, schedules, plugins, but crucially, you can click on dots, and this sits above all the other chats on the left hand side. So, I've said here, for example, hey, could you explain to
me in one sentence exactly what dots do? You can ask it questions, talk to it, and this is the primary interface. And you can also actually get messages from this on your phone as well if you have
the chat GBT app uh downloaded. Now, let's go ahead and give it a prompt using Glad. Hey, there. What I'd like to do is to head over to my school community, AI Automations with Jack, and
I want you to create for me an image and a video. Um, whatever you think would be best using the Higsfield API, uh, complete full creative autonomy. All right. And then I'm just going to send
that one off so it can kick off there. Again, the key thing here guys is we want to give as little instruction as possible to see how capable these are. And we can do the exact same thing here
by saying, "Hey there, I want you to go ahead and build me." And then XYZ and effectively the whole thing can work inside Grockbot. And obviously with Grockbot, the interface is a little bit
different because it is purely just for the agents on the left hand side. But then what about Hermes agent? Well, this is the most interesting thing. Hey GLD, open up Jarvis. The thing about Hermes
agent is the fact that we can actually do this anywhere we want to. So I've just used a command mode there. Now obviously we've got an agentic operating system and what I did is I just added
Hermes agent to it because it's great. So let's go ahead and actually navigate there. Now the cool thing about Hermes agent is we can activate it anywhere. For example, hey there Jarvis. Um I'd
like to start a new Hermes conversation and could you just get it to create for me uh an image and a video uh about my community AI automations with Jack, please? And also navigate over to my
memory section as well. Should I get Ki started on creating that image and video for you? Memories open. Ready for your next move. >> Excellent. Thank you very much. Now I'm
just going to turn this off. And as you can see, it's now opened up Hermes GBT6 more install and it can now run that and it can see all my chats here on the left hand side. That's one of the cool things
you need to first of all understand Hermes agent is it is instantly configurable and you can use it anywhere you want to even with an agentic operating system. Now, the truth is you
won't be able to do this task unless you actually give Open AI and Grobar and Hermes the ability to generate beautiful images and videos. And to do that, we're going to be using Higsfield, which has
been incredible with something very new that you need to know because any personal AI assistant you're using, you need to give it the ability to create images and videos if you want to get the
most capabilities out of it. Now, on the platform, if you're not familiar, I'll put a link down below so you can click that and follow along with this test. Now, if you click on API, and I'll take
you over there with the link I put down below, or you can use what's called their CLI or the MCP. I'll put a link there so you can check it out. What you can actually effectively do, guys, is
just give one key and you can generate as many images and videos as you want with one key. And the price is very, very good in terms of actually what you get out of it. So, whether you want to
do Cense 2.5, Genjutsu to replace some stuff, cling, you name it. We literally give uh dots, we give any of these AI personal assistants the ability and then effectively whatever I ask, whether it's
podcast editing, graphic generation, it can just go ahead and use that. And obviously in the app itself, you can check out the images. For example, if I come over here to images, you can see
the stuff that I've been generating, how I use all the time, and some of the stuff it's gone ahead and made. It is just a profoundly useful and beneficial platform to doing all this kind of
stuff. Now, one cool thing to understand about dots, guys, is you can click on its face. You can give it an it own interactive image or emoji. So, you can pick where you want it to be. Let's go
ahead with this little aqua thing. I don't know quite know why, but we can give it that as we go along before we go ahead and see the results. Now, here you can actually manage many different
things for your own individual dots cuz you need to understand the user interface. So, this is the thing that Dot made for us. Now, I'll be clear. I did not ask for any followup whatsoever
from Dots. When I went ahead and did this, it had full complete autonomy. I judge actually the skill of an assistant based on how little instructions can I give you and you still going to deliver
something of high quality. So again, this is using the GBT 6.1 Astra model and it's gone down. I said build what's next. Just so you have context of what it's recreating for me. This right here,
which I'll show you right now, so you know exactly what this is building using Higsfield is my school community. So it's got it's gone ahead and got here a image build what's next and I've gone
ahead and asked dot for the video and you can see we built here with Higsfield. It's gone ahead and just animated that entire thing. I'll play again in case you missed it. It's got
audio but essentially it's just a track basically. As you can see it's going up and slightly different. This is what Grockbot did in one go. As you can see the image and essentially it's gone
ahead and turned it into a video. Again, I didn't give it any prompt at all. It's just on a beautiful coffee with a laptop with this slow zoom in. And then we can see Hermes agent itself kind of did a
little bit of a different idea, a little bit of a different approach with this using GBT 6.1. What is great here is it's actually integrated some of the things from my own personal community
like the blueprints and things that we have. What I want to draw your attention to very quickly is our kind of brand, so to speak, is this beautiful little brain. And if you look, it's actually
got the brain and included that into the image itself. And it's even built a 15-second video. Again, this is all done one shot just using the Hixel API. It's gone ahead and done it. And it's got
this thing. And it's even built a beautiful video to explain everything on it. Now, to take it to a new level, let's go ahead and take it to the build to do something different. I'm actually
here going to give Dot Grockbot and Hermes just essentially say to them, hey, go and grab an episode from my latest podcast, the stack podcast I do with my buddy Nick. And then what I'm
going to do is go ahead and physically grab that for me and then give me some kind of like output that I can physically use. Now, this is an example of what it did for podcast with Dots.
And the thing to bear with these guys is that the output is largely driven in part by the model, but Dots did this basically in one shot. I don't think this is quite something I would use
mainly because the formatting is a little bit off, but what it did do a great job of is actually adding in the logo. So, I think with one or two prompts that would have been fine. Then
I come over to what Grockbot did. Grockbot did something a little more traditional. They were so I've just reduced that size. It's got a little bit of missing the um the tax at the bottom
which is not incredible but again this is just one shot to show you an example of what Grockbot did. Then finally we have what the Hermes agent harness did for us which is this one here
specifically GT. We'll give this a play. Again, it's got the logo, but the editing and the way I'd put it together, I think off the bat, and none of these models are using GoPros. They're just
using GPT Astro 6.1, which obviously is great, isn't exactly blowing me away in terms of quality, but you can get the idea. It's not the harness's fault. It's just basically the prom that we're
giving it. But the next level I really wanted to test was its ability to use tools. Now when I'm giving all these different agents whether that for example is going to be Hermes agent
grobbot or dots and I'll explain which one I'd recommend in a second you essentially want to give it the ability to connect two tools right fish audio open ai apollo granola whatever the
things are that you want to do now to do that I personally use zapia because this is what I'd call the authentication layer the idea is that with zapia you can connect things right and then once
you've connected it to zapia you can effectively use that single connection everywhere else in one point as an MCP to connect to anything. So whether I am using Hermes or Grockbot
or you know dot it can all be the same thing. Meaning I don't need to go and reauthenticate myself everywhere. For example, here I am in Claude, right? And if I use Claude, I open up a tool. I've
now got to go through different connectors. This lets me connect to everything. So I recommend using Zappy for this. You can configure things in it. It's pretty incredible. I actually
built my first tech startup initially using Zappia. So it's a massive benefit. Now what I basically did is give them Zapia. And essentially I said to them, look, I want you to go ahead and find my
last email and write me a draft response to it. And unsurprisingly, they all did a fine job. They're all just as capable as going into inbox and creating anything. Then I just asked the finally
to go ahead and ask dots services to go ahead and do some competitive strategy for me. How do they all do it individually? Well, this is important to understand. Dots basically browses each
competitor in its own browser and then kind of crunch things for you. Grockbot itself can do the same thing. Hermes agent can do it in the app, Telegram or again if you're using this you can just
say hey go and do it and it'll just do it for you and give it you anywhere that you want to. Now dots itself kind of gave me an interesting one here and give me more of a texting. I've got like a
five-page document which is quite interesting. Then from Gro we had a little bit more of a slightly visual overview which is quite interesting. Then Hermes itself did something here
where I've got like different ideas and again it's gone a little bit more into detail but again it's all pretty interesting. And I used the same model in Hermes as I did for dots as well.
Well, then this brings us on to the milliondoll question. What does this really actually cost us? You need to understand with dots about open AAI. Let me show you what I mean. Hey, um, head
over to my memory section, please. >> Memory section is open. >> And then, yeah, what I'd like you to do, head over to the timeline and then can you just show me my OpenAI facts um,
graphic, please? >> Your Open AI facts graphic is now on display, ready for your keen eye. >> Thank you. I appreciate that. We have to turn his humor setting down a little
bit. He's getting a little bit peppy these days. But the point about why I want to bring this up is here's the thing that you need to understand is that OpenAI itself, okay, is crushing it
from a model point of view. They're still slightly behind Opus 5.5, but when it comes to dots, guys, you are model locked. Just like with Grockbot, you're essentially model locked. There are ways
to hack it, so to speak, but Hermes is truly model agnostic. And when you think about the price, for example, what does that actually look like? Now based on everything I could find with this
essentially you need the $100 subscription to get it. So you need chat activity pro from a h 100red bucks any pro tip includes one dot big it is ad usage not more dots and as you can see
it scales them. Then let's look at what happens with grogbar. Grogbot itself you can actually access from 20 bucks. I've done a couple of videos covering this which make it a lot easier and obviously
you can get more features you go ahead. Then you got hermy's agent guys. Hermy's agent itself is the technical option. This is for the nerds, the guys that like to tinker and build things. That's
where Hm agent starts. It's more configurable. It isn't for your so to speak normies if you understand that phrase of like they're just getting started. You can start using you can run
Hermes on your own computer, your own metal 100% for free using open source models. Now, is that economically viable? Not really, unless you've got the hardware to do that. Remember, you
pay in time as well. Now obviously you can use your chat GBT subscription with Hermes if you want to. So you could use the same thing. It's very very impressive. So from a cost point of
view, you know, if you want to nerd out, you can really get Hermes started for free. But realistically, you're going to want to be on the chat GBT pro. So they're aiming it for a little bit more
of an interesting user. Now let's talk about how they all learn and get better. Dots, okay, learns from your feedback. So as you're using dots and you give it feedback about your preferences, what
you like, it will get better and it will work across chatbt and slack and teams cuz you get the full open AI ecosystem. Grockbot itself will follow you along. Now the cool thing about Grockbot is you
can even record your screen and teach it skills. So it's very very cool and it'll also pick up and remember things as well. Hermes agent is one that writes tasks after you use it. It's got a
persistent memory. You can even amend that memory and develop on it and build on it and do all sorts of wonderful and wacky things. Again, this is for the builders who want full creative control.
Now, when it comes to who's in control, the interesting thing is they can all message you proactively. I actually have a weight loss bot in Grock, guys. He messages me every morning. Even whether
I reply to him not, he's like, "Jack, what is the weight today? Did you eat that big chocolate cake? Yes or no?" I said, "I can neither confirm nor deny that." Okay? So, they can all do that.
And just in the same way, Hermes agent can also do this. If you set it up and you say to him agent, hey, you know, but you basically have to give it a prompt. For example, I would need to come over
here and let's go over and have a chat with this. I would say something like, hey, could you speak to him agent? Get it to send up a recurring task at 10:00 a.m. every day to ask me uh what my
weight is. Shall I get Hermes going on that recurring task for you now? >> That would be grand. Thank you. Hermes is on the job. Feel free to check
the Hermes chat for updates. Beautiful. And then it'll go ahead and do that in the background. And you can ask Hermes to do that just in the same way you can do it with dots. It's the exact same
thing. But the truth is, guys, ultimately they're all AI assistants. Like even this open AFAX sheet that I built for you here, this image here I built with Hicksfield. I just use the
API key and they're all capable of doing that exact same thing. So we can go ahead and do that. And you can see Hermy's now working in the background and kicking some butt. I'm also going to
tell you which one I'm personally using right now as well, which is really important to understand. Now, what is it? What is it they can't do now? What is it that they are limited in doing? If
we look at dots, here's the truth. They're still rolling out. They're not yet for pro in the EA, UK, or Switzerland. One dot per plan. More dots can come later. Honestly, I would have
loved the multiple dots. I think one of the coolest things about Grathbot is the multiplicity of the agents that sit inside the interface, how they all yap with each other. In Grothbot, they can
all have conversations. I have one that is finance and I have one that is fun and they're constantly uh in conflict with one another that's very hilarious. Then we've got Grockbot. Few hard balls.
Honestly, the allowance is probably the thing that people run into most when it comes to Grockot. They tend to use it and then they say it can go down a little bit. Honestly though, I found
Grockbot unbelievably easy to get set up and get running and it is just effortless. If you are a beginner, Grockbot is so good just to get started. Just like Dart, you're already using
Chat GBT. You don't need to download an app. You can just use them. Then you got Hermes agent. You've got to install it. You've got to update it. it's more technical. You run into things around
tokens. Um they are updating it more regularly and it's like an open source project. And then before you can make an informed decision, let's just understand some of the most important questions
that you may be thinking about. One that comes up quite a lot I find is how is it different than the chat GPT? That's a really good question actually because a lot of stuff you can do in dots you can
do in chat GPT. The difference is that it has its own computer and keeps working between chats which is very very handy. Grockbot itself again has its own computer. So you can sign in to
everything in Grockbot and use it and work it. When it comes to safety and where your data goes obviously here with dots it's on your own computer. It's apart from yours. So the stuff that
happens with dots isn't running locally on your computer. Okay. Safe passwords are not shown to the model. You set all the rules. With Grockpot itself again you got privacy mode. You can encrypt
it. You can opt out of training. With Hermes it lives on your own machine your own computer. So, for example, you could do it without being connected to the internet, for example, or you could run
it virtually if you prefer. Now, in terms of the models, your GBT6 Astra is powering that. Now, it says that cursor picks a model for each task. Uh, there is no model picker. I've often found
that essentially it's just Grock running under the hood. And then with Hermes, you actually get to pick any model that you want to. I could say run this with Opus, run this with Flavor of the Day,
whatever I want to. You get full customizability. And by the way, if this sounds like I'm speaking some mananish, I'll put a link down below for my full Claude code masterass, my entire Hermes
agent masterass that will take you from zero to an absolute hero. And you also get full immediate access to the full agentic operating system, all the memory system, the timelines, the onboarding to
get you flying to essentially use anything that you want to. I spent hours and hours and days and days building this entire thing. You can get immediate access. I'll put a link down below so
you can grab that and absolutely crush it. Now, another important thing is, will it work on your phone? Well, put it this way. When it comes to Darts, you can set it up on your desktop. The phone
app works once you've got mobile access and it's available. Works on Slack and Teams. So basically, you can bring Darts essentially wherever you are in the different platforms that you're at. And
again, you can use Hermes agent using other apps like Telegram or WhatsApp. Now, they all work when your laptop or computer is off except for Hermes unless you host it virtually or you have like a
Mac Mini at your home running 24/7. This is one of the really cool benefits of it. Then it comes down to cost. Chat TV Pro is 100,200 or $500 a month. Let me know down below if you're going to jump
on that one. Grock you can use for 20 bucks a month. And then obviously for Hemis agent the software is $0 and you just pay for the models that you actually use. Now the question about do
you actually need one is a really really interesting one. Now for my point of view guys the way that I would honestly think about this is I would think about it from the point of view of separate
out in your mind work you do at a laptop to build beautiful things. Software like this agentic operating system for example is something that I built right. Um, this I would build in chat GBT, I'd
build in Claude. Then secondarily to that, I have a personal assistant. I've been using Gawk. I've been using Hermes. I've now been using Dot. And think of it as on the-go building. It's somebody
that keeps you track. It's like ideas that you get. It's um messaging people. Think of it like your personal assistant. If you ever watched Night Rider was kind of running in the '9s
when I was born. I was watched it. It's kind of like this Night Rider car can do a lot of stuff. It's kind of like that. It's kind of like a mini Siri in a way that just does things for you. And if
you separate them out, it will make a lot more sense because there's a lot of stuff that they can both do. But if you think about it from that point of view, it's very helpful. And all the companies
are making big bets on this. Now, most importantly, which one should you choose? Grockbot and dots. If you are a beginner and you don't know or understand the complex, you haven't
learned Hermes agent and you want something to get started that's easy, you want to begin with Grockbot or dots. If you're very cash constrained, you may want to go with Grobox. That's only $20
to get started. But if you're very familiar with Chat GBT, you may find Dots a really good place to get started. Transparently, I think they're just a couple of weeks behind Grockbot in terms
of its um maturation, but OpenAI is a giant and I'd expect the capabilities and the power of Dots to grow exponentially. So, if you're a beginner and you want someone to get started, I
would go for Grockbot or Dots. Now, if you like tinkering, if you're a little bit of a nerd, you want to build your own systems, you want to do various different complicated things, Hermes
Agent gives you the full control. If you want control, customizability, use any model you want to run it locally, um have like a, you know, a Quen model running on your own kind of Mac Mini A
Lab Empire, Hermes Agent is the one for you. If you want hands-off plugin and go, you want to be using Dots or you want to be using Grockbar. Grockbar is genuinely crazy accessible. So is Dots.
Now, understanding dots and grobot and homemization is one thing, but if you really don't understand the fundamentals of what makes AI systems valuable, none of it really means anything. So, the
next thing I want to do is go through with you what this actually looks like in an Aentic operating system, which we're going to do together inside of this video right
